Oviedo's Barringer sets American record at Beijing Olympics

She came, she saw, she set the U.S. record.

Oviedo High graduate Jenny Barringer finished 9th in the womens 3,000-meter steeplechase on Sunday and set a U.S. record along the way. Barringer finished in 9 minutes, 22.26 seconds and didn't even realize she was close to setting the American record at the time.

Now it's back to training for her upcoming cross country season... and of course the London Olympics in 2012.

Barringer graduated from OHS in 2003 and currently attends the University of Colorado.
