Officially Official: Two new Oviedo tornado sirens now up and running
Last week we spotted the tornado siren @ Pine Ave. and the Cross Seminole Trail as it was being prepared for installation. Now the siren is up and running, and a second siren has been installed in east Oviedo's Live Oak Reserve neighborhood.
According to Oviedo City Councilman Steve Henken, Florida is ranked third in the nation for tornado touchdowns, and he's proud Oviedo is installing the sirens.
"Being the first city in the state to have [the sirens], I feel our citizens are at a great advantage for early warning," said Henken.
The current tornada siren count is at ten, and there are no plans to add any additional sirens at this time. The City will continue to test the sirens on the first Saturday of each month at noon.

Good to know I won't be needing to set my alarm next Saturday...
